The Brown Berets came together to stand as one voice for the Mexican American people, whom had no voice. The Berets stood against the oppressor and the bigots that felt that Mexican Americans and African Americans were not good enough. They made their point by staging protest, walkouts, rallies, and unfortunately some violence. They were involved in some altercations with the police, and in San Antonio took a stand against the street gangs of the infamous “West Side”.

As long as there is immigration issues then there is no equality. This country was built by immigrants. This land did not belong to the Anglo Saxons, they took it. Now they are attempting to take our culture . What defines us as people. Before the Anglos came to America it belonged to the Native Americans, and before they bought Texas it was ours.
